The Colombo YMBA will award scholarships to students of schools in the neighborhood of the Colombo YMBA, Borella.
The schools include Ananda College, Nalanda College, Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Gothami Balika Vidyakya, Yashodara Balika Vidyalaya, D.S. Sena-nayake College, Ratnaveli Balika Vidyalaya and Susamaya-wardhana Vidyalaya.
Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of a criteria adopted by the Colombo YMBA Trust Committee for students who have passed GCE O/L in 2013 and are continuing studies in AL classes. Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment announced that that 2016 /2017 Korean Language Proficiency (EPS-TOPIK System) examination result schedule to be release on 12th October 2016.
This Examination; is the first Korean Language Proficiency examination held under EPS-TOPIK System and 90.3% of participants have been qualified in their Korean Language Proficiency level.
Those who qualified the above examination could apply for the Skill Test and Competency test from 17th to 20th October 2016 and the examination will be help from 16th November to 22nd November 2016 of 7 days.
The final result would be release on 7th December 2016 on Wednesday.
Officials state this is the only examination is considered by the Korean Employers and high commissions for offering visa and none of the other Language qualifications are not considerable for working in Korea.

On 28th September 2016 at 09.30 a.m. by the Vice chancellor Prof.Ananda Jayawardena in commemoration of the 50th anniversary reunion of the Pioneer Engineering Batch and the birth of the University of Moratuwa.
The University of Moratuwa (UoM) is the world renowned. Higher Engineering Education Institute in the country today. Over the past 5 decades of its existence, it has produced some of Sri Lanka’s leading engineers, who are today serving in most of the world. Even though the facilities at UoM have periodically been upgraded, it had been identified that there was a dire need to upgrade and modernize the Electrical Machines Laboratory to meet the current higher technological standards.
Having identified this need, The Pioneer Engineering Batch (PEB) of engineers who passed out as the first batch from Moratuwa University in 1972 decided that they would step in to design, equip and construct a new modernized, state of the art laboratory in keeping with world standards. The PEB Designed and managed the project Installation in consultation with the UoM Academic Staff. With the initial seed capital collected from within the batch, there was need for raising the balance majority of funding for the project.

The Mahatma Gandhi Scholarships for 2016-17 were awarded to 150 Advanced Level school students from all 25 districts across Sri Lanka.
The Mahatma Gandhi scholarship, a merit cum means based scholarship instituted in 2006-07 for Sri Lankan students and its awarded annually.
Scholarship recipient receives cash assistance during their 2 years of Advance Level studies and the scholarship amount from Rs 2,000 to 2,500 per month from 2015-16 onwards and accordingly; this year’s awardees will receive Rs. 30,000 annually during their two years of advance level studies.
this scholarships were offered based on the students G.C.E (O/L) Performance and the interview held in April 2017 by Education Ministry and Indian High Commission officials.
The Education Ministry will introduce its novel pilot project of vocational academic stream for the students who wish to follow the stream from October, 2017.
The ministry will launch the new stream aiming 5,000 students at 42 selected schools countrywide covering 25 administrative districts of the country. Kurunegala District UNP Parliamentarian and Education Minister AkilaViraj Kariyawasam told to the News that the students who complete the vocational academic stream will have NVQ 04 qualifications.
They can get lucrative jobs locally and globally as there is an increasing demand for skilled and professionally – qualified technologists and technicians. A technologist can earn around Rs. 350,000 monthly, the minister said.
